I Voted For The Nominee Before I Voted Against Him

Yesterday, the Republicans, elected to represent OUR interests, who in turn appoint other people to represent US to the whole world, just caved in and decided it was more important to give Bush an up or down vote on John Bolton, rather than sending this president a message that WE, the people who pay their salaries would like them to appoint someone to represent US to the entire world, who is not, as Senator George Voinovich put it, "The poster child of what someone in the diplomatic corps should not be" and “Would be fired if he was in the private sector.”

Both Senators Lincoln Chafee and Voinovich said they decided to support Bolton because he is President Bush's choice.
Shouldn’t one’s decision be made on the merits of a choice? Is the message that in a democracy the president’s every whim should be catered to because it was the president’s whim?
Last I checked Bush holds the office of the presidency, not a papacy and I have seen nary a hint of infallibility in his decision making.
No, on every level, he has consistently made craptacularly frightening choices.

I mean C’mon.
The torture guy for Attorney General?
Or even worse, a nominee for the federal bench the torture guy thinks is too extreme!

And now the man, who advocated of blowing up 10 stories of the UN, is our top choice to be its ambassador?

Give me one good example of how this president has earned the distinction of a full senate vote on his choice of this mustachioed megalomaniac to be our diplomatic voice when HE HASN’T MADE A SINGLE GOOD CHOICE TO DATE!?

Yesterday, the Republican Party defined itself as never before.

Even when having to ask this question of the presidents horrific nominee;

“What message are we sending to the world community when in the same breath we have sought to appoint an ambassador to the United Nations who himself has been accused of being arrogant, of not listening to his friends, of acting unilaterally, of bullying those who do not have the ability to properly defend themselves?"

They will still fall in line and rubber stamp any person or piece of legislation that rewards the powerful and ignores the interest of the people.

And WE pay for it all.

Blind Ambition, thy name is Republican.

From August J. Pollack .

Count me in among the many, both right and left, who have no idea what the hell is going on inside George Voinovich's head after his amazing performance at yesterday's Senate panel in which he declared that John Bolton was a "poster child of what someone in the diplomatic corps should not be" and was "not the best man" for the job... which he promptly then voted in favor of sending to the full Senate for consideration.

Voinovich has signalled a few things here: first and foremost, he's a gigantic pussy. Monsterous. A pussy of such mythical enormity that the Japanese have made movies about it being awoken during underseas nuclear testing. His new name is George Vaginovich.

I saw the clip on the news and immediately said WTF?! I hope the fence he is sitting on is of the old picket variety and wedges a stave right up his butt.

I am of the belief that the reason the President is so adament in the selection of Bolton for the UN is so that he can say at cocktail parties, "Dick needs a Strap-On, but I've got a BOLTON!!"

That and the fact that Bolton looks like he could be Stalin's grandson. Dubya's obviously got some kind of Spank-Me-Dada Russian Dominator fantasy thing going on.

Since our favorite show was phased out and replace by the Springer, I've been listening to World Soccer Daily on the Sports By Line Network. Sports By Line has a news broadcast at the top of the hour presented by the USA Radio Network.

I can't believe what an incredible right spin, check that, incredible right pack of misrepresntations & lies they are presenting as news. From today's news, I heard how the noble Republican senators are battling against the constitution hating slimeball Democrats. Jeeeze!

Unsuspecting people are listening to these broadcasts and thinking that the GOPers are the principled good guys!

We have to wrest control of radio & television news outlets away from these radical conservatives now, otherwise there won't be any hope of a turnaround.
